Siblings Trish and Darry Jenner are driving home through the desolate, sun-scorched countryside of central Florida during their
spring break. Their lighthearted bickering is abruptly interrupted when a rusted, menacing COE truck tailgates them aggressively before roaring past. Further down the road, they witness the same truck parked beside an abandoned, dilapidated church. They watch in horror as a mysterious, trench-coated figure—later known as the Creeper—struggles to shove a blood-stained, sheet-wrapped bundle into a large drainage pipe. Driven by a mix of morbid curiosity and a sense of civic duty, Darry insists on returning to the site to investigate, despite Trish’s desperate pleas to keep driving.Darry descends into the pipe, discovering a gruesome, subterranean chamber filled with hundreds of bodies sewn to the walls in a grotesque, mural-like fashion. He barely escapes after realizing some of the victims are still alive. Terrified, the siblings flee, but the Creeper relentlessly pursues them, sensing Darry’s fear. After a series of harrowing vehicular assaults, they seek refuge at a local diner, where they encounter Jezelle Gay Hartman, a psychic who has been haunted by terrifying visions of the creature. She reveals that the Creeper is an ancient, demonic entity that emerges every twenty-three years for twenty-three days to feast on human body parts. These consumed organs eventually become part of the creature’s own anatomy, allowing it to regenerate and survive. The siblings attempt to reach the
police station, but the Creeper systematically dismantles their defenses, disabling their car and cutting power to the building. As the creature closes in, it targets Darry, sensing a specific quality in him that it desires. The climax unfolds in an old, boarded-up factory where the siblings are cornered. Despite their desperate efforts to survive, the Creeper successfully isolates Darry. In a final, chilling sequence, the creature carries Darry away to its lair. The film concludes with a grim realization: the cycle has claimed another victim. Trish is left alive, broken and traumatized, while the Creeper, having successfully harvested what it needed, settles in to hibernate, leaving the terror to wait another two decades before hunting again.
