Centuries ago, ancient warrior Xu Wenwu discovered the mythical Ten Rings, granting him immortality and godlike power. In 1996, seeking the mythical magical village of Ta Lo, Wenwu encountered Jiang Li, its fierce guardian. They fell deeply in love, prompting Wenwu to abandon his violent past, start a family with children Shang-Chi and Xialing, and dismantle his empire. The ultimate battle erupts when Wenwu and his army arrive, aggressively attacking the village. During the chaotic clash, Wenwu breaches the mystical gate, inadvertently releasing the Dweller-in-Darkness—a soul-consuming monster imprisoned within. Realizing his fatal error, Wenwu sacrifices himself to save Shang-Chi, passing the mystical rings to his son. Empowered by the rings and his newfound inner peace, Shang-Chi, aided by Katy and mythical beasts, defeats the monstrous entity, saving the world and honoring his family's complex legacy.
