Based on Robert Galbraith’s bestselling novels, *Strike* follows Cormoran Strike, a rugged, hard-boiled private investigator operating out of a cramped London office. A war veteran who lost his right leg in Afghanistan, Strike navigates chronic physical pain, a crumbling personal life, and mounting financial ruin. His existence shifts gears when Robin Ellacott arrives as a temporary secretary. Initially hired to handle basic administrative tasks, Robin proves remarkably sharp, resourceful, and fiercely intuitive, quickly transitioning from assistant to an indispensable investigative partner.Throughout the series, Strike and Robin dive into a series of gritty, complex murder mysteries that expose the underbelly of British society. In their debut case, they investigate the apparent suicide of a troubled supermodel, uncovering a web of family secrets, betrayal, and high-fashion malice. Subsequent investigations plunge them into deeply disturbing psychological territory: a sadistic author whose manuscript exposes real-life depravities before he is brutally murdered; a decades-old disappearance involving a monstrous, elusive serial killer known as the Shanker-connected legacy; and a deeply personal nightmare when Strike’s estranged, unstable mother resurfaces alongside a deranged stalker targeting Robin. As the duo navigates gruesome crime scenes, interviews deceptive suspects, and untangles elaborate webs of lies, their professional dynamic undergoes a simmering, high-stakes transformation. The partnership is constantly strained by external pressures, including Robin’s suffocating, conventional fiancé Matthew, who resents her dangerous career and deep bond with Strike, and Strike’s own self-sabotaging romantic entanglements and painful history with his glamorous, toxic ex-fiancée, Charlotte.Beneath the intricate puzzle-box mysteries, the emotional core of the series lies in the undeniable, unspoken tension between Strike and Robin. Their mutual respect evolves into a profound, yearning intimacy that neither dares to fully articulate for fear of destroying their partnership. Every case pushes them closer together, forcing them to confront their own vulnerabilities and demons. Balancing visceral street-level action with classic whodunit deduction, the narrative tracks their grueling journey toward justice, personal growth, and the agonizingly slow burn of a romance destined to upend both of their lives, culminating in a tense emotional high-wire act where professional survival and matters of the heart hang in an equally delicate balance.
