In a world where costumed crime-fighters, known as "Supers," are revered, public sentiment turns hostile due to mounting collateral damage and lawsuits. Bob Parr, formerly known as the legendary powerhouse Mr. Incredible, and his wife Helen, once Elastigirl, are forced into civilian
witness protection. They adopt the surname Parr and try to assimilate into mundane suburban life in Metroville along with their children: invisible-prone Violet, super-speedy Dash, and infant Jack-Jack.Bob, now trapped in a soul-crushing insurance desk job, deeply resents his
forced retirement and sneaks out at night with his best friend, Lucius Best (Frozone), to secretly fight petty crime. The monotony shatters when Bob receives a mysterious video summons from the enigmatic and wealthy Mirage, who offers him a lucrative freelance gig: traveling to the remote island of Nomanisan to disable a rogue, lethal combat robot named the Omnidroid. Craving his former glory and eager to prove his worth, Bob accepts, successfully defeating the machine while keeping it a secret from his family.Empowered by this renewed sense of purpose, Bob grows physically and emotionally stronger. However, his secret double life is exposed when Mirage lures him back for a rematch against an upgraded Omnidroid. Bob is brutally captured by the machine's true master: Syndrome, formerly known as Buddy Pine, an obsessed former fanboy and aspiring sidekick whom Bob had coldly rejected years prior. Syndrome has spent the intervening years building an advanced weapons empire and systematically hunting down and murdering hidden Supers to test his evolving robots. When Helen discovers Bob’s absence, she visits costume designer Edna Mode, inadvertently activating homing devices embedded in Bob's new uniform. Helen realizes Bob is in peril and pilots a private jet to Nomanisan, unknowingly bringing Violet and Dash along as stowaways. Syndrome intercepts the aircraft with missiles, forcing Helen and the children to use their powers to survive the harrowing crash and infiltrate the heavily guarded fortress.Helen infiltrates the base and rescues Bob, but they soon realize their children have followed. Syndrome captures the entire family, gloating about his master plan: he intends to unleash the ultimate Omnidroid upon Metroville, secretly manipulate it, and then defeat it publicly to become the world’s newest, beloved superhero. He will eventually sell his technology, rendering superpowers obsolete and making everyone "super."Escaping captivity with the help of Violet and Dash, the Parr family boards a stolen rocket and races back to Metroville. Upon arrival, they find the city in chaos as the rampaging Omnidroid turns on Syndrome, rendering him unconscious. Working in seamless tandem for the first time, the family uses a piece of the robot's own detached armor to pierce its hull and destroy its core. Following the battle, the family embraces their true identities, welcoming a newly manifested array of chaotic powers from baby Jack-Jack just as a new threat, the Underminer, bursts from the earth, prompting the reunited Supers to proudly mask up and leap into action together.
