In October 2000, psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler operates a clinical practice in Nome, Alaska. Following the mysterious murder of her husband, Will, Abby becomes consumed by a series of worsening sleep disorders plaguing her patients. Using hypnosis, she attempts to unlock the repressed memories of her subjects. To her mounting terror, every hypnotized patient exhibits the exact same nocturnal manifestation: they all describe waking up in the middle of the night to find a silent, unblinking white owl staring at them through their bedroom window. As Abby digs deeper, the psychological symptoms escalate dramatically. During sessions, patients succumb to violent, inexplicable catatonic states, terrifying memory loss, and sudden levitation. One patient, terrified after reliving a night time intrusion, goes on a horrific murder-suicide, slaughtering his entire family before turning the shotgun on himself. Convinced there is a medical or cultish conspiracy happening in the isolated town, Abby faces intense skepticism and eventual suspension from Sheriff Tom Begbie, who suspects her aggressive hypnosis techniques are actively driving her patients insane and destabilizing the community.Undeterred, Abby teams up with colleague Dr. Scott Awad to review the hypnotic recordings. They uncover chilling audio evidence hidden just beneath the patients' human screams—strange, guttural vocalizations speaking an ancient, long-dead Sumerian language. The entity claims not to be a demon or a psychological break, but rather God.The terror hits home when Abby’s own house is invaded by unseen forces. During a terrifying midnight attack, her
young daughter, Ashley, is violently abducted right out of her bed while floating toward the ceiling, leaving Abby helpless and desperate. The local police suspect Abby murdered her husband and now her daughter, placing her under heavy surveillance and house arrest.Desperate for answers and driven by maternal instinct, Abby undergoes hypnosis herself to breach her own blocked memories of the night Will died. The recovered audio and visual fragments reveal that the intruders are not earthly criminals, but malevolent, non-human entities. Ultimately, the forces return for Abby, violently ripping her through the ceiling during a police check. She vanishes
without a trace. The film concludes with Ashley never found, Sheriff Begbie maintaining Abby’s guilt, and Dr. Awad left broken and paralyzed by the haunting realization of what truly stalks the dark skies of Nome.
