Following an unauthorized rescue mission on the primitive planet Nibiru, Captain James T. Kirk is stripped of his command of the USS Enterprise for violating the Prime Directive. However, after a high-ranking Starfleet officer, Thomas Harewood, detonates a bomb at a London archives facility, Admiral Marcus reinstates Kirk and Spock to hunt down the perpetrator: a mysterious, rogue Starfleet operative named John Harrison. Harrison has fled to the Klingon homeworld of Qo'noS, a neutral zone. Marcus provides Kirk with advanced photon torpedoes, ordering him to execute Harrison rather than capture him.Upon arriving at the dangerous border, Kirk’s team discovers that Harrison is actually Khan Noonien Singh, a genetically engineered superhuman from the past who was revived by Marcus to develop weapons of war.
