Following the grim demise of the notorious Jigsaw Killer, John Kramer, and his disciple Amanda Young, FBI
Special Agent Peter Strahm manages to escape one of the Jigsaw's deadly water cube traps. Meanwhile, Agent Lindsey Perez is seemingly killed in a separate explosion. Unbeknownst to the authorities, Jigsaw’s ultimate successor is none other than Detective Mark Hoffman, who meticulously stages
the aftermath to frame Strahm as the elusive accomplice and mastermind behind the gruesome games, earning Hoffman a promotion and public praise. While Hoffman enjoys his fabricated hero status, a brand new game begins in a heavily secured, abandoned subterranean labyrinth. Five strangers wake up with their necks locked into steel collars attached to heavy cables. A pre-recorded message from the deceased Jigsaw reveals that they are all connected by their past complicity in a deadly building fire that claimed innocent lives. To survive, they must work together through a series of increasingly brutal rooms. However, the game is designed to teach them that selfishness leads to doom. As they progress, they realize that the fewer people who make it to the end, the greater their chances of survival. Driven by paranoia and desperation, they resort to drastic measures, amputating limbs and harvesting their own blood to meet the escalating quotas. Eventually, only two traumatized survivors remain, realizing too late that the traps could have been easily beaten if they had simply cooperated from the very beginning.Parallel to this sadistic trial, Agent Strahm refuses to let the case go. Suspicious of Hoffman’s unblemished record and miraculous survival, Strahm launches a secret, unauthorized investigation. He pieces together the clues left behind, uncovering undeniable evidence that points directly to Hoffman as Jigsaw's true heir. This relentless pursuit leads Strahm straight into a final, inescapable trap designed specifically for him. He discovers a glass box containing a transparent coffin and a cassette tape left by Hoffman. The tape warns Strahm that the only way to survive is to trust the killer and step inside the glass enclosure.Instead of following instructions, Strahm overpowers Hoffman and shoves him into the subterranean coffin just as the walls begin closing inward. However, Strahm fails to realize the true nature of the trap. The heavy glass box slides safely down into the floor beneath the crushing walls, protecting Hoffman inside. Strahm, on the other hand, is left outside in the narrowing corridor. Despite his desperate, futile attempts to escape, he is crushed to death by the converging concrete walls. With his primary pursuer eliminated and the five-person game successfully concluded, Hoffman solidifies his dark legacy, perfectly positioned to continue Jigsaw’s twisted crusade without interference from the law.
