In 1990s Miami, Daniel Lugo, a charismatic but disillusioned bodybuilder, works at the Sun Gym. Frustrated by his lack of wealth and status, he concocts a reckless scheme to kidnap Victor Kershaw, a wealthy, arrogant, and abrasive client. Lugo recruits two fellow gym enthusiasts to assist him: Adrian Doorbal, a man struggling with impotence due to steroid abuse, and Paul Doyle, a volatile ex-convict and born-again Christian battling a drug addiction. Together, they form the "Sun Gym Gang," driven by a distorted interpretation of the American Dream and a desperate craving for the extravagant lifestyle they believe they deserve.The kidnapping begins as a chaotic disaster, but the trio eventually manages to abduct Kershaw. They hold him captive in a warehouse for weeks, subjecting him to torture and psychological abuse until he is coerced into signing over all his assets, including his businesses, homes, and bank accounts.
