The story centers on James Edwards, a cynical and hyper-observant NYPD detective who finds himself recruited into this shadowy agency after a high-speed pursuit of a superhuman suspect reveals the existence of the extraterrestrial underworld.Rechristened as Agent J, he is paired with the veteran, no-nonsense Agent K. K is a stoic, disciplined operative who has spent decades maintaining the delicate balance between humanity and the interstellar refugees hiding in plain sight. Their partnership is immediately tested when a ruthless insectoid alien, known as an "Edgar Bug," crash-lands on Earth with a singular, destructive goal: to locate and seize a powerful, subatomic energy source called the Galaxy, which is hidden on the planet. The Bug assassinates an alien diplomat and begins a frantic, violent search for the item, threatening to trigger an intergalactic war that would result in Earth’s total annihilation. As J and K race across New York City, they encounter a series of bizarre alien entities, including a coroner named Laurel Weaver who becomes unwittingly entangled in their mission. The agents must navigate a high-stakes conspiracy, discovering that the Galaxy is not merely a piece of jewelry, but a vast, miniature universe protected by a feline companion. With time running out before the Bug departs the planet with the weapon, J and K engage in a final, desperate showdown at the New York State Pavilion. Through a combination of K’s tactical brilliance and J’s street-smart ingenuity, they manage to thwart the invasion. In the aftermath, K decides to retire, allowing J to neuralyze him and grant him a peaceful life. J assumes his mantle as the agency’s top operative, ready to protect the Earth from the scum of the universe while ensuring the public remains blissfully unaware of the truth.
