Rani Kashyap, a
hopeless romantic raised on pulp fiction novels by author Dinesh Pandit, marries Rishabh Saxena, a mild-mannered and introverted chemical engineer. Their
arranged marriage quickly fractures; Rishabh’s quiet, reserved nature and his orthodox family clash with Rani’s vibrant, sensual personality. Feeling suffocated and sexually unfulfilled, Rani finds herself drawn to Rishabh’s charismatic and muscular cousin, Neel Tripathi, who moves in with them. A passionate, torrid affair begins between Rani and Neel, fueled by physical attraction and shared fantasies. However, Neel refuses to commit to Rani fully, viewing their liaison as mere lust while demanding she remain a dutiful wife to Rishabh. Heartbroken and desperate, Rani confesses her infidelity to Rishabh, hoping it will jolt him into fighting for her. Instead, the revelation devastates Rishabh. His love transforms into a bitter, vengeful obsession. Seeking retribution, Rishabh begins psychologically torturing Neel by feeding him spicy mutton laced with slow-acting industrial chemicals, subtly destroying his body and nerves. Fearing for his life and unable to handle the escalating tension, a terrified Neel abandons Rani and flees the city without a backward glance. With Neel gone, Rani and Rishabh are forced to confront the wreckage of their marriage. Strangely, in the crucible of this shared betrayal and cruelty, a twisted, deep-seated bond forms between them. Rani begins to respect Rishabh’s fierce, hidden intensity, while Rishabh realizes the depth of his devotion to Rani, despite her flaws. The story reaches a violent climax when an explosion guts their home, leaving a charred, unidentifiable male corpse missing a hand—the very hand Neel used to write love letters to Rani. The police immediately suspect Rani and Rishabh of conspiring to murder Neel. During intense police interrogations, Rani spins a web of fabricated stories inspired by Dinesh Pandit’s novels, portraying herself as a helpless victim of circumstance to deflect suspicion and protect Rishabh. In a stunning twist, it is revealed that Rishabh willingly severed his own hand to fake his own death, sacrificing his identity so that he and Rani could escape together and start anew. The charred corpse actually belonged to an unidentified man, lured into their trap to secure their freedom. Ultimately, Rani and Rishabh prove that their love, though born of toxicity and deceit, is absolute. They successfully outsmart the law, choosing to vanish into the shadows together, bound by a dangerous, inseparable passion that mirrors the thrilling crime fiction Rani always adored.
