Picking up directly after the bloody events of the previous massacre, the hideously disfigured and relentless serial killer Jason Voorhees survives his grievous injuries and retreats to a dilapidated barn near Crystal Lake to nurse his wounds and bide his time. Meanwhile, an unsuspecting group of carefree young adults arrives at Higgins Haven, a rural lakeside property owned by the eccentric and easygoing Chris Higgins. Fox and Chili meet similarly gruesome ends inside the farmhouse, leaving Vera and Rick terrified and desperate for survival as they realize they are trapped with an unstoppable monster.Vera wanders outside to search for her missing friends and falls victim to Jason’s deadly harpoon gun. Rick is subsequently ambushed and crushed to death by Jason, leaving Chris as the sole surviving target. Seeking refuge in the barn, Chris engages in a harrowing, desperate battle for her life against the masked killer. Utilizing her surroundings and a surge of adrenaline, she manages to temporarily incapacitate Jason by embedding an axe deeply into his skull. The film concludes with a deeply traumatized Chris drifting alone on a canoe in the middle of the lake, suffering from a terrifying hallucinatory nightmare where a decomposing Jason suddenly bursts forth from the murky water to drag her under, cementing the endless cycle of the Crystal Lake curse.
