The story begins with a high-stakes confrontation between the brilliant teenage detective Shinichi Kudo—currently trapped in the body of Conan Edogawa—and his arch-nemesis, the enigmatic phantom thief Kaito Kid. Kid has sent a cryptic warning letter threatening to steal the "Star of Destiny," a priceless jewel owned by the renowned stage actress Juri Maki. Conan, utilizing his sharp intellect and a borrowed hang glider, successfully tracks Kid to a rooftop, exposing his disguise and thwarting the initial heist, though Kid manages to escape into the Tokyo night sky.Shortly after, Conan, his childhood friend Ran Mouri, and the
bumbling detective Kogoro Mouri are invited to a rehearsal of Juri Maki’s upcoming theatrical play, *Josephine*, held at a theater. Also in attendance are the play's eccentric director, the nervous producer, the eager writer, and several supporting actors, each harboring hidden tensions and personal grievances against the demanding and arrogant diva. To ensure the jewel's safety during the upcoming performance, Juri invites the group aboard a commercial flight to Hakodate, where the play is scheduled to be performed. As the Boeing 747 ascends into the clouds, the situation quickly escalates into a airborne crisis. Juri Maki is suddenly poisoned after consuming a piece of chocolate laced with deadly cyanide. Panic spreads through the luxury cabin as the detectives realize a murderer is trapped on the plane with them. Conan immediately begins investigating the passengers and crew, scrutinizing alibis and collecting forensic clues. Compounding the terror, both of the flight’s veteran pilots are simultaneously incapacitated after consuming the same tainted chocolate, leaving the massive aircraft entirely without professional guidance. With communication systems failing and fuel rapidly depleting, the passengers face imminent doom. In a shocking twist, Kaito Kid reappears on the flight, having disguised himself as one of the cabin crew members. Realizing the gravity of the situation and recognizing a worthy adversary in Conan, Kid teams up with the young detective. Together, they deduce that the director orchestrated the murder out of professional jealousy and resentment toward Juri. With the murderer exposed and detained, a new crisis emerges: the plane must make an emergency landing at an abandoned military airstrip in the dark and heavy fog. Since neither Conan nor Kid possesses commercial pilot training, Ran steps up, guided via radio by Shinichi (speaking through a voice-changing bowtie) and assisted by Kid. Using her experience playing the role of a pilot in a school play and relying on her sharp instincts, Ran bravely navigates the turbulent descent. The plane bounces hard upon touching the tarmac but eventually comes to a safe stop, saving everyone on board. As
emergency services arrive, Kaito Kid slips away into the night once more, leaving Conan to reflect on another thrilling victory.
