Borat Sagdiyev, a television reporter from Kazakhstan, is dispatched by the Ministry of Information to the United States to produce a documentary on the "greatest country in the world." Accompanied by his cynical producer, Azamat Bagatov, Borat arrives in New York City, where his crude manners and blatant prejudices immediately clash with Western social norms. During a business meeting, Borat catches a glimpse of the television sitcom *Baywatch* and becomes instantly obsessed with the actress Pamela Anderson. He decides that his new mission is to travel across the country to California to marry her, believing she is the perfect wife to bring back to his village.As they travel westward in an ice-cream truck, Borat encounters a diverse array of Americans, ranging from feminist activists and etiquette coaches to gun-toting hunters and politicians.
