Max Goof is thrilled to graduate from high school and finally escape the shadow of his perpetually clumsy, overly affectionate father, Goofy. Looking forward to total independence, Max packs his bags for college alongside his loyal best friends, Bobby Zimuruski and PJ. However, his dreams of a carefree adult life are abruptly shattered when Goofy loses his job at a toy factory because he lacks a college degree. Determined to secure a better future and prove he is not obsolete, Goofy decides to enroll at the very same university as Max to finish his education.Mortified by his father's arrival, Max tries desperately to distance himself. Goofy’s vintage antics, loud sweaters, and relentless attempts to bond completely derail Max's social standing. Bradley invites Max to try out for the annual college X-Games tournament, a massive televised sporting event, but cruelly bans Goofy, who has accidentally shown up and proven surprisingly adept at skateboarding.Desperate to fit in with the "cool kids" and impress a beautiful campus coffee shop barista named Sylvia, Max compromises his loyalty. When Goofy attempts to cheer Max on during a preliminary race, Max cruelly snaps at his father, telling him to leave him alone and live his own life. A heartbroken Goofy retreats, losing his usual sunny optimism and struggling academically, particularly in his classes taught by the strict Professor Nakashima. Meanwhile, Max realizes that the Gammas are cheating using hidden mechanical enhancements to dominate the X-Games.Feeling immense guilt over how he treated his father, and disillusioned by Bradley's toxic, win-at-all-costs philosophy, Max quits the fraternity right before the finals. He decides to make amends and convinces a dejected Goofy to rejoin the tournament, forming a makeshift team alongside PJ and Bobby.During the grueling final competition, Bradley resorts to dangerous sabotage, nearly injuring PJ. Seeing his friends in peril, Max works together with Goofy, combining their unique skills and deep familial trust. In a climactic showdown, Bradley triggers an explosion on his own teammate's rocket-skate, but Goofy leaps heroically into the fire to rescue Bradley from certain disaster. Max wins the race and the championship trophy. Afterward, Bradley is exposed for his cheating and publicly humiliated. Max finally accepts his father’s goofy nature with pride, and Goofy wins the heart of Sylvia, allowing both father and son to embark on their respective adult journeys with mutual respect.
